At FACE CLUB we want to offer young people something they will take with them into everyday life – practical skills, experience and the courage to try new things.
For 15 years, at the Ica event, we have been preparing various dishes for young people, such as pancakes, lievance, langoše and sushi. Food has naturally become part of our time together and of building the community. Now we would like to take the next step – not just let young people taste food, but let them prepare it themselves.
Our current club kitchen is small and equipped with only an oven and a single hob. We therefore want to redo and equip it so that more young people can cook and bake at the same time.
As part of the project we are planning five hands-on cooking sessions in which young people will learn to prepare simple, tasty, healthy and affordable meals. The sessions will also cover topics such as healthy eating, the nutritional value of food, sensible budgeting and avoiding food waste.
We also want to involve seniors from our community in some of the activities, so they can pass on their experience and traditional recipes to young people. In this way we want to create a space where different generations meet and where we learn from one another.
