On the last Sunday of July, despite the cooler weather, the Community Sunday event took place. It was held on the grounds of the Evangelical church. It was a joint effort by several organisations with one goal: to spend time together.
Everyone Chipped In
Big thanks go to Sem – the Evangelical youth fellowship – and the lads from the Halfway House in Veľký Slavkov, who chased away our fear of bad weather and saved us from any rain by lending and putting up a large-capacity tent.
The Evangelical Church congregation in Spišská Belá provided its premises for a pleasant community gathering, but we did not stop at the premises. Pastor Mgr. Eva Germanová, PhD. led two tours for curious participants, willingly introducing the Evangelical church and its history.
FACE CLUB in cooperation with the civic association Expression o.z. and the town of Spišská Belá prepared sports activities for children. These included bows, a human boomerang, a Jenga tower and many more.
Young volunteers also took care of tasty lievance with whipped cream and fruit. Volunteer Máša from Ukraine brightened up the afternoon by playing the piano and also “fulfilled” a dream by playing the church organ. Volunteer Erika from Latvia, meanwhile, prepared a community game for children and young people. All successful solvers were entered into a draw for 3 board games. Congratulations to the winners, Lucka, Sofia and Tobiáš!
The Hernička mother and child centre prepared activities for the smallest children. Toys, books and other creative activities were a must. One of the members, Viki Sisková, prepared a workshop on Montessori approaches and activities for children up to the age of 3, aimed at mums and dads alike. She also shared a rich display of various aids, both handmade and bought.
Mums and little ones from the civic association Kráčame spolu prepared various activities for all the curious children. Creative workshops, active foam, paints and other fine-motor-skills activities brightened the moments not only for the children but for parents too.
Actresses from the amateur theatre group Theatrobalans meanwhile used their face painting to turn all the children's faces into butterflies, Spider-Men and kittens.
The Day Together Had a Fairy-Tale Ending
We ended the day together with a screening of the fairy tale Údolie lampášikov. There was certainly no shortage of viewers. The cinema hall filled up to the last seat and the last chair we had available. The screening of the fairy tale was supported by a call from the members of the Prešov Self-Governing Region assembly.
Thank You All…
To the partners who contributed to the programme with their participation, but above all to those who came to join us. Because that is what it was all about: to meet, talk and have fun. We hope you spent a pleasant time with us and that we will see you next time. We are already looking forward to seeing you.
Selected activities were supported from the budget of the Prešov Self-Governing Region.
