Who doesn't like fairy tales? Everyone, big and small, is sure to find themselves in at least one. The Three Little Pigs, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs or Shrek are just three examples out of the many that come to mind.

A fairy tale for everyone

That is why our programme at this year's Manor Games (Kaštieľne hry) was all about fairy tales. Part of the park came alive with various characters from all sorts of fairy tales. The children could meet Ariel, Tarzan and his Jane, Maya the Bee or the Mad Hatter from Wonderland.

But these characters were not there for nothing. They all had an important task – to test the skills and knowledge of the little visitors to the fairy-tale forest.

Who all appeared in the fairy-tale forest?

After the initial registration and a welcome from the forest elves the children could get to work.

The Mad Hatter tested their knowledge of herbs and treated the children to a delicious tea. At Baba Yaga they tried out a foam experiment. Maya the Bee tested their maths knowledge and their rope-skipping skills, and the children helped Cinderella sort pulses, pick out the stray matches and put them together into a puzzle. At the station with Tarzan and Jane the children tested their aim at archery and their balance walking along a rope. Tinker Bell led the children through a maze, and the three little pigs built a house, whose sturdiness the little visitors then tested. The last fairy-tale character was Ariel, where the younger children had to catch fish from a pool and the older ones had to catch people (their signatures) based on selected characteristics.

Skills were rewarded

At every station the children received a stamp for completing the task. Once they had collected all the stamps, they stuck their card on the board and picked up their reward of fairy-tale stickers.

Thank you…

To all the forest visitors for their determination and joy in completing the tasks – and we look forward to the next edition. We also thank our fairy-tale friends for their willingness to spend a lovely afternoon with the children 🥰.
