On Sunday 27 April 2025, the Community Garden in Spišská Belá came alive with colour, laughter and lively energy. Spring Community Festival attracted dozens of visitors of all ages and offered a varied programme that combined relaxation, cooperation and fun in the spirit of friendship and sustainability.
A harmonious start 🧘♀️
We kicked off the festival with morning yoga with Lydka, which put participants in the mood for a calm and positive start to the day under the open sky. Then activities got going across the garden – from creative workshops to practical help with tidying and spring maintenance of the community garden.
Open-air gallery 🖼️
Throughout the festival there was also an exhibition by pupils of the art department of the Spišská Belá Art School (ZUŠ). Visitors could admire their imaginative and colourful works right on the fence surrounding the Community Garden. The exhibition created a beautiful backdrop to the event and also reminded us how many talented children and young people there are in our town.
Together for the garden 🐛🌱
Volunteers got involved in tidying the garden, planting the new herb planter (bylinkomat) and building birdhouses that will serve small birds. These activities brought not only practical benefit, but also a chance to come together and create something meaningful.
Hernička for the little ones 🐤🚸
The fun for the youngest was taken care of by the Hernička mother and child centre, which prepared a varied children's programme full of games and creativity. There were games, face painting and space for free play. The Community Garden turned into a place where children could safely enjoy freedom and discovery.
Grandma's tasty kitchen 🍲
Our hungry tummies were looked after by the Union of Pensioners, who prepared a tasty homemade pea soup. It was truly excellent and a great success – big thanks go to everyone who helped prepare it.
Swap – a fashion exchange with purpose ♻️
The garden clothes SWAP, in cooperation with the Trochu inak civic association, offered a stylish and responsible way to refresh your wardrobe without unnecessary shopping. Creative workshops for children and adults took place at the same time, where colours, ideas and the joy of making all mixed together.
Music and cinema – a grand finale 🎻🎦
In the afternoon the garden filled with the sounds of a concert by pupils of the Spišská Belá Art School (ZUŠ), who delighted visitors with a high-quality musical performance.
The planned evening screening of the fairy-tale film Domáce príšerky was moved to the Pôjd Education Centre because of the bad, chilly weather. The children really enjoyed the screening – there was homemade lemonade and a proper helping of popcorn.

All day long the garden was filled with a sense of belonging, smiles and joy in small things. Thank you to everyone who came, helped or contributed to the good mood.
