Meet the guests of the #MladíMladým conference

Matej Adam

Who is Matej Adam? 😊

Hello!
My name is Matej Adam and I am a student at LEAF Academy secondary school in Bratislava. The topic of mental health has always been close to me, as my father is a therapist. It did not take long before it became close to me too: as part of the school subject entrepreneurial leadership, in 2020 I co-founded the project inako, which connects the world of mental health with young people. We are currently a team of eleven volunteers who try to spread information through workshops at schools and on social media. Besides that, I also do Peer Counselling at my school, so I serve as emotional support for my peers.

At the Mladí Mladým (Young to Young) conference, I will speak as a speaker about my experience in communicating mental health and the current problems in this area in Slovakia. I hope I can bring a new perspective and at the same time meet people who also have an interest in this topic.

Soňa

Soňa Oravcová will be the second guest of the conference

She comes from Liptovský Mikuláš and has been doing sport since childhood. Her passions are climbing and ski mountaineering. As Soňa says: “The details that nature hides are revealed only to those who watch closely. The mountains are a place where I recharge my energy, and I try to spend as much time in them as possible, whether in Slovakia or abroad. I turned my love of sport into my studies too, and I graduated from the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport of Comenius University in Bratislava. I am an instructor of mountaineering, downhill skiing, hiking and cycling tourism. I am currently studying on the International Mountain Guides course of UIMLA. We are looking forward to our speaker Soňa, and to you too, so do not hesitate and register via the form😍. Matej and Matúš

The third guests will be a pair of lads from No more stigma Slovensko clinical psychologist Matej Herman and psychiatrist Matúš Virčík, experts on the topic of our conference. Who are Matej and Matúš? ➡️ Hello! I am Matej and I work as a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist at the Psychiatric Hospital in Michalovce. Besides that, together with other colleagues, psychologists and psychiatrists, I helped found the non-profit organisation No More Stigma, with which we have been working for more than 4 years on destigmatising mental disorders. Through our activities, we try to raise public awareness of the availability of mental health care and to support everyone who feels they need it in finding it. ➡️ Hello, my name is Matúš and in 2015 I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University. In the same year I started as a resident doctor at the Psychiatric Hospital in Michalovce. I completed my specialisation in psychiatry in 2020. I focus mainly on psychotic disorders, psychopharmacology and biological psychiatry in general. I am a co-founder and director of the non-profit organisation No More Stigma n.o., which is dedicated to destigmatisation, education and the popularisation of psychiatry. Through the non-profit organisation, we would like to reach as many people as possible, both professionals and the general public, and so kick-start a reform of psychiatry in Slovakia. To show people that there is nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to psychological difficulties. We are looking forward to Matej and Matúš and to sharing their know-how, and we are looking forward to you too, so do not hesitate and sign up today. Alica
The fourth guest will be Alica Alis Uchytilová – author of the exhibition O záber ľahšia (A Frame Lighter), founder of the project Náplasť na dušu (A Plaster for the Soul) and member of the civic association Psychiatria nie je na hlavu. I am Alica, and here are a few sentences about me…. 🙂 I began to focus on the topic of mental health around 2015. Originally, psychology interested me as a subject I wanted to study. I found it fascinating. But as life goes, “sometimes life gives us lemons”, and anxiety came into my life. Since then my life has changed dramatically. Luckily I am an open and creative person, and I started to talk about what I was going through. I was looking for a medium into which I could pour my suffering and sadness. Photography found me. For years I photographed myself in difficult states, as if with every shot I was capturing a little piece of my pain. It had a therapeutic effect for me. This is how the exhibition O záber ľahšia came about. Later came the project Náplasť na dušu https://www.instagram.com/naplastnadusu/, which began during the first lockdown. I created a visual aid intended to support mental health. And it is thanks to this project that I was invited to the Mladí Mladým Conference. And actually, I wanted to add one more thing: when life gives you lemons, you have to make lemonade out of them. I look forward to seeing you. Sabra
Guest number five will be Sabra Zureková – a young student who cares about the topic of mental health. Sabra, tell us something about yourself. 🙂 Hello, my name is Sabra. I am a fresh university student. I began working on the topic of mental health a few years ago. It is an important topic that concerns every one of us. Every one of us matters, and we need to realise that. There is no need to be afraid to talk about your feelings and thoughts. Mental health is often underestimated. I would like to show people that it should not be. We do not have to feel bad. Everyone deserves to be happy, even if it is a long and difficult road. But with a little empathy, we can help each other. We are looking forward to Sabra, and to you too, so do not hesitate and register. Zuzana
The last guest will be Zuzana Matuščáková – an editor at Forbes magazine and co-founder of the project Nevyhorení. Zuzana is an editor at Forbes magazine and co-founder of the project Nevyhorení, which aims to help people in Slovakia start talking more about mental health. She is a co-author of the book Nevyhorení, which brought 21 true stories about burnout syndrome from Slovakia, and since June last year she has hosted a podcast of the same name. Together with psychologists and other experts, she discusses various phenomena in the field of mental health and wellbeing. We are looking forward to Zuzka, and to you too, so do not hesitate and register.
