During the first week of the Belianski géniovia camp, the children set out to discover important figures from our region and explored the world of photography at the same time. Every day brought new experiences, creative activities and interesting encounters with history and art.

📷 From first steps to photography

We kicked off the week on Monday, when Nikola introduced us to the camera, its individual parts and the basics of photography. The children got to try a professional Nikon D810 camera and become real photographers for a while. For many, it was their first contact with professional equipment and a great experience.

📚 In search of Michal Greisiger's story

On Tuesday, we visited the library, where we learned more about the life of Michal Greisiger. The children then visited the garden, where they saw the Ginkgo biloba tree that he planted himself. They collected leaves and plants and in the afternoon made their own herbarium from them.

🎭 At the J. M. Petzval Museum

Wednesday was dedicated to a visit to the J. M. Petzval Museum. During an unconventional tour and workshop, the children made an optical toy – a thaumatrope. They also learned more about portrait photography and spent the afternoon taking their own portraits.

🎨 From spark to picture

On Thursday, we visited the manor house in Strážky, where we took part in the workshop From Spark to Picture and an interesting tour about the life and work of Ladislav Mednyánszky. The children thus had the chance to get to know another important figure connected with our region.

🔵 Cyanotype as the finishing touch to the week

The last day of camp was devoted to a historic photographic technique – cyanotype. Everyone created their own original picture to take home as a lovely memento of the camp.

😊 A week full of experiences

Behind us is a week full of new knowledge, creativity, discovery, experiences and good spirits.

In closing, we would like to thank all the children for a wonderful week together. Thank you for their curiosity, enthusiasm, creativity, smiles and the great atmosphere they created every day. We hope they took away from the camp plenty of lovely memories, new knowledge and friendships.
